The hearing on the case of former Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in the US federal court in Manhattan borough of New York City on Monday will be procedural, the BBC reports.

The court hearing is scheduled to begin at noon local time.

Maduro and his wife will appear before District Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein, who was appointed to that position during the administration of 42nd US President Bill Clinton.

The former Venezuelan president will be charged in a criminal case on illegal drug trafficking, which the US federal government has been conducting for 15 years, and Maduro has been a defendant in it for six years.
