China or Russia could "take" Greenland if the US doesn't. US President Donald Trump made this claim while speaking with reporters.

"If we don't take Greenland, Russia or China will, and I'm not letting that happen," Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One while flying from West Palm Beach, Florida—where he spent the weekend at his Mar-a-Lago estate—to Washington,

Trump said he would be open to making a deal with the Danish self-governing territory, "but one way or the other, we're going to have Greenland."

He added that a deal to transfer control of the island to Washington would be simpler.

According to the US president, Greenland's defense consists of "two dog sleds."
