When summing up the events of 2025, we cannot take them separately; they are an organic part of the process. And still at the beginning of 2026, we understandably had a feeling that the culmination occurred in 2025, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan noted in his remarks at a security forum Wednesday.

“It was a positive culmination, but the processes show that positive culminations are still ahead,” he added.

Reflecting on the meeting between Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington on Tuesday and the document adopted as a result, Pashinyan said: “I want to congratulate all of us, and congratulate our region, and also congratulate all supporters of the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and the institutionalization of peace.

When they say, ‘in these perilous times,’ they used to sound very ordinary, [but] now they pierce my ears. And why are the times ‘perilous?’ Can you explain? I want to say that the situation around Armenia has never been more stable in the entire history of its existence. The security environment around Armenia has never been more stable in the entire history of its existence, the threats facing Armenia as of 08:00 on January 14, 2026, Armenia has never been in a less threatening, safer, more stable environment.

All the processes that have taken place play a role in this, and also the statement disseminated at night, they completely change the environment. I also want to congratulate the United States, congratulate the European Union, because all this opens up great opportunities for our region."

Pashinyan added that the starting point of these events was October 6, 2022, when the well-known statement was adopted during the quadrilateral meeting, in which Armenia and Azerbaijan recorded the principle of recognizing—based on the Almaty Declaration—each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty.
