Details of the Greenland deal have become known.
NATO representatives have discussed an option under which Denmark would transfer its sovereignty over a small part of Greenland to the United States, reports The New York Times.
In the future, US military bases could be established in this territory.
This idea was proposed by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and is similar to the option of deploying UK military bases in Cyprus.
The draft deal includes as well the deployment of the US Golden Dome missile defense system in Greenland, additional work on raw materials, and countering external influence by Russia and China on the island, DW reports.
In addition, the plan also involves updating the 1951 US-Denmark agreement on the defense Greenland, which allows the US to build military bases on this Arctic island if NATO deems it necessary.
