YEREVAN. – A home lift that caused the death of 5-year-old girl in Yerevan was neither registered, nor passed any inspection, an expert said.
Volodya Hovsepyan, Deputy Director of the National Center of Technical Safety, said home lifts do not have to undergo checkups and inspections. Hovsepyan was unaware whether there was a lift malfunction. It turned out that there is no body that has to regulate the issue of installing lifts in private houses.
The representatives of municipality explained that the lift was installed in a four-storey house, and neither municipality, nor local administration had any relation to operation of the lift.
