October 26-27, the representatives of Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia discussed the process of construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway in Kars, Turkey, Georgian Foreign Ministry told Trend News agency.

The sides also discussed the financial side of the project during the discussion.

Representatives of the three countries visited those construction objects that are being constructed within the project in Turkey, as well as a tunnel, which is constructed on the Georgian-Turkish border.

They also got familiarized with the construction of a railway branch on Georgia’s territory.

The sides stressed the considerable political and economic importance of the project for all three countries, including in terms of attracting additional cargo to the region, the Georgian Foreign Ministry said.

As NEWS.am reported previously, Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway will operate in 2013. The project constructed bypassing Armenia is aimed at its isolation. The Armenian side repeatedly criticized the project, which is another attempt by Turkey, Azerbaijan and Georgia to isolate Armenia.
