Anatoly Sidorov, Chief of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Joint Staff, hopes that the situation on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border will be settled pacifically.

Responding—during Thursday’s video conference organized by Russia Today news agency—to the query on the aggravation of the situation on the aforesaid border in recent days, Sidorov noted that the parties themselves normalize the situation.

“Armenia hasn’t petitioned to the CSTO, and therefore the power potential of the CSTO can’t be actually applied,” he added. “We hope that the parties will resolve the problem on their own, and it’s desirable that it will be done pacifically.”
