Armenia and Georgia are not only neighbors, but also friends, said Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili in Yerevan on Wednesday.

Her remarks came in a statement to the media after meeting with her Armenian counterpart Armen Sarkissian.

According to her, peace and stability are crucial for our region.

There are many challenges in the region and it is necessary to remember that the main way is the peaceful resolution of conflicts on the basis of the norms of international law, she said adding that all conflicts should be resolved via dialogue and talks.

The Georgian President noted that Nagorno-Karabakh conflict should not be shifted to the Georgian territory and the Armenians and Azerbaijanis should live in peace there.

The leaders discussed the potential of the region, talked about the visit of Salome Zurabishvili to the EU and Georgia’s plans regarding the EU.

“The most important stage will be the Batumi conference, where the vision of a new stage of relations with the EU, which will lead to final integration, will be presented,” Zurabishvili said. Armenian President Armen Sarkissian has been invited to the conference.

Salome Zurabishvili highlighted tourism, new technologies, energy, transport infrastructures in the Armenian direction as priority areas of cooperation.

“There are big plans both with the EU and without the EU. The time has come for our countries to complete the border delimitation. The delimitation process between friends should not last so long,” Zurabishvili said.
