In 2018, the Kurdish-populated Syrian region of Afrin went under the control of Turkey following Turkey’s Operation Olive Branch in 2018.

Harout Kevork, the last Armenian of Afrin, is forced to leave his residence due to seizure and theft of his belongings and inhuman attacks of Turkish army units and the Free Syrian Army, reports ermenihaber.am.

Harout Kevork’s family is one of the hundreds of thousands of Armenian families who were forced to emigrate as a result of the 1915 Armenian Genocide.

Kevork has been living in Afrin since childhood and has maintained a living by running a metallic items store. However, he had to move to Aleppo after losing all of his properties following the operations of the Turkish armed forces and the Free Syrian Army.

According to the source, Kevork’s house, located on the road to Jindiris, is currently a mosque and has been named Al-Faruq.
