Iran has begun enriching uranium at a Fordow facility, TASS reported referring to Atomic Energy Organization of Iran.

According to the statement, uranium enrichment and production resumed in Fordow and all steps are carried out under the supervision of the IAEA.

Iran began Wednesday pumping gas into centrifuges at a nuclear facility in Fordow, which in fact means the beginning of the fourth stage of Tehran’s reduction of obligations under the nuclear deal.

According to the deal, signed in 2015, Iran should modernize its stable isotope production facility in Fordow under the supervision of international observers.

In May 2019, Iran announced the first phase of the suspension of part of its nuclear deal commitments - the suspension of enriched uranium sales by 60 days. In July, Tehran proceeded to the second stage of suspension - announced the enrichment of uranium over 3.67%. In September, Iran announced that it had embarked on the third phase of reducing its nuclear deal obligations and abandoned restrictions on research activities.
