The Criminal Court of Appeals did not grant the motion by the legal defenders of Ara Vardanyan, former Executive director of the Hayastan All Armenian Fund, and Vardanyan will remain in custody. Vardanyan’s lawyer Yervand Varosyan noted about this on his Facebook page.

The post, in particular, also reads as follows:

Ara Vardanyan will continue to be held in custody, when there are no conditions and grounds for that provided for by law, when being in the status of a defendant for a year and three months in no way violated any condition of pretrial measure of bail imposed on him.

What does this mean? This means that there is "special" attention given to Ara Vardanyan and the Fund by the authorities. Otherwise, such decisions were simply ruled out.

And this in turn means that Ara Vardanyan is being persecuted and actually punished for his political and social activities only.

Any political process being carried out under the veil of criminal prosecution is anti-state.
