A police officer was beaten in Yerevan.

Yesterday a dispute and a fight took place in Yerevan, Shamshyan.com reports.

At about 3:20pm, police received a call from a hospital that they had admitted a person with injuries.

Police found out that this person was Davit Hayrapetyan, 23, a resident of Yerevan, who, according to doctors, was unable to report what had happened.

Subsequently, police detained - from a downtown Yerevan intersection - several university students on suspicion of taking part in the incident.

At the police station, they declined to comment on the incident and were released.

It has been found out that Hayrapetyan is a police officer, the aforesaid dispute and fight had nothing to do with his profession, and the matter was “over a girl.”

Police are preparing a report on the incident.
