YEREVAN. – Water is a very important component of the standard of living, and efforts should be made to ensure that its quality meet the requirements of the people as much as possible. In this sense, the “Environmental Monitoring and Information Center” SNCO lab, which has international status, will help the Armenian government to make effective decisions in the field of ecology. Andrea Wiktorin, the EU Ambassador to Armenia and head of the EU delegation to the country, said this in a conversation with reporters on January 31.

Wiktorin added that Lake Sevan’s water quality, which is an indicator of the whole ecological state of Armenia, is very important for the country. She noted that in addition, the lake is at the same time Armenia's “lungs,” and therefore, Lake Sevan ecological balance restoration projects are planned to be included in the Water Initiative Plus for Eastern Partnership Countries (EUWI+) program.

As reported earlier, the opening ceremony of the aforesaid lab took place today in Yerevan.
