Pope Francis again addressed the serious humanitarian situation in the Lachin corridor, which has been blocked for more than 40 days by Azerbaijani pseudo-environmentalists.
"I am close to all those who have to cope with these inhumane conditions in the midst of winter. All efforts should be made at the international level to find peaceful solutions for the benefit of people," he said.
The blockade of Lachin corridor linking Artsakh with Armenia and the world has been continuing for already 1.5 months. Because of the blockade, 120 000 Artsakh residents (including about 30 000 children) suffer a lot of hardships and face the threat of starvation. More than 12,000 tons of vital goods would have been delivered to Artsakh if not for the blockade, during which only a fraction has been delivered through the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Russian peacekeeping contingent.
