Varuzhan Hoktanyan, head of programs of Transparency International Anti-Corruption Center, presented the results of Corruption Perception Index for 2022.

Armenia (46) ranks second in the region according to the Corruption Perception Index 2022 after Georgia (56), while Azerbaijan (only 23) and Turkey (36) this year saw a significant decrease, reaching a historic minimum.

In Azerbaijan the power mainly belongs to Ilham Aliyev and his family. Corruption is widespread in Azerbaijan, and the opposition is weakened by years of repression against political rivals and civil society.

Azerbaijan (lost by 7 points) is only 10 points ahead of South Sudan and Syria, which have the worst score in the world, in terms of corruption.

As last year, Denmark, Finland, and New Zealand lead the ranking.
