There is a criminal case pending in court. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this at Tuesday’s meeting of the National Assembly Inquiry Committee for Studying the Circumstances of the Hostilities Unleashed on September 27, 2020, addressing the question of how out of 117 thousand Armenian servicemen 5,000 soldiers were not found to maintain the Shushi city of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh.

"On May 10, when the [Armenian] government building was turned upside down, under those conditions, it was reported to me that we have no soldiers in Shushi. I asked why, I received an answer which I will answer behind closed doors," he said.

Pashinyan stated that he was shocked by the considerable amount of military desertion or similar cases.

And when asked whether everything was done to prevent the 44-day war in the fall of 2020, the Armenian PM responded: "Not everything was done. ‘Everything’ would have been for us to go and meet new demands of Azerbaijan. But if you ask are you sure that the war would not have happened then, I cannot say for sure. But don't doubt for a minute that the [Armenian] political leadership has worked in that direction with full effort."
