Iran has welcomed the achievement of a ceasefire agreement in Nagorno-Karabakh, and mediated by Russia.

Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani called on both sides to focus on resolving their differences through "dialogue and peaceful mechanisms" within the framework of "Azerbaijan's territorial integrity."

Welcoming the aforesaid ceasefire agreement, the Iranian foreign ministry spox noted that there is no reason to continue hostilities in the region, and expressed hope that there will be no more wars in the region.

"The Islamic Republic [of Iran] demands full respect for the territorial integrity of the recognized international borders of the countries of the region, and it is of the opinion that the rights and security of the people of Karabakh should be ensured within the same framework," Kanaani said.

Also, he expressed Iran's readiness to contribute to the respective stable peace processes, and said that the third parties’ intervention in the region will only complicate the existing problems and endanger the existing agreements.
