Adam Schiff, a member of the US House of Representatives and co-chair of the US Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues, has called on the US administration to immediately send humanitarian aid to the Armenians of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) .
“My office is closely monitoring the developing situation in Artsakh. The reports of hundreds injured by an explosion are deeply alarming. I’m calling on the Biden Administration to direct immediate humanitarian aid and to assist with medical airlifts for those affected. President Aliyev must allow the free flow of aid without conditions or restrictions,” Schiff wrote on X—former Twitter.
There was a strong explosion Monday in a gasoline warehouse not far from the Stepanakert-Askeran motorway in Artsakh. According to Artsakh ombudsman Gegham Stepanyan, the number of victims as a result of this explosion exceeds 200.
