As an active EU member, it is very important for the Netherlands that the European neighborhood is peaceful and prosperous. This was stated by visiting Dutch foreign minister Caspar Veldkamp at a joint press conference with Armenian foreign minister Ararat Mirzoyan in Yerevan on Wednesday.

Veldkamp assured that the instability around Armenia is worrying, and said the Netherlands was ready to help. Moreover, the Dutch FM called the main element of this instability “dependence on the Russian Federation,” and said Amsterdam was ready to help reduce it.

The Dutch official considered constructive the actions of Armenia and Azerbaijan to achieve peace between them.

For its part, the Netherlands is ready to facilitate the dialogue between Armenia and Turkey, which was discussed during Veldkamp’s meeting with Turkish representatives Tuesday. The Dutch FM said he is confident that the parties have the will to normalize their relations.

Also, Caspar Veldkamp paid special attention to “Russian fakes” that “can also affect Armenia.” According to him, these fakes can disrupt Armenia’s relations with Ukraine and some other countries, as well as create tension in relations with Azerbaijan.
