YEREVAN. – The situation in Yerevan State Linguistic University after Valery Bryusov (YSLU) is rather tensed. The 3rd year student Narek Samsonyan was detained during the meeting with Armenian Minster of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan, as he was very active during the protest action against the minister. He also works for Hraparak paper.

The university area is under control of police officers.

To note, Armenian Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan visited YSLU on Thursday in order to discuss the tensed situation in the university.

The student council of YSLU had previously decided to hold the discussion in the university’s hall but this angered the protesters outside.

The minister had to leave the building and answer to the questions of the students in open air.

The minister announced that he will not return YSLU’s former principal Suren Zolyan to his post again. The students answered to this announcement by chanting ‘It’s a shame’.

To note, on the order of Armenia’s Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan the Principal of Yerevan State Linguistic University after Valery Bryusov Suren Zloyan was dismissed from his post.
