YEREVAN. – In March 2012, individuals have sent non-commercial remittances totaling US$ 107 million to Armenia, the Central Bank informs.  

This number was $277 million in January-March, which surpassed the January-March 2011 indicator by nearly 10 percent.

Russia continues to be the main source of these remittances, as close to $225 million was received from that country in the first quarter of this year, and this exceeds last year’s indicator by approximately $30 million.

The volume of remittances from the US, which is second in the list, has remained virtually unchanged at close to $18 million.

Third and fourth countries are Ukraine and Kazakhstan, with $3.8 million and $3.7 million respectively.

Remittances totaling $460 thousand were received from Turkey, against the $308 thousand of the year past, and $820 thousand were transferred from Armenia to Turkey, against $1.1 million of last year.
