YEREVAN. – Those National Assembly (NA) MP candidates, who were included in the Republican Party of Armenia’s (RPA) proportional election list and who work in the executive bodies, are submitting Friday to the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) petitions for withdrawal from their parliamentary mandates, which they had received as a result of the May 6 NA elections.
But in an interview with Armenian News-NEWS.am, RPA Press Secretary Eduard Sharmazanov did not give out any names.
“We had submitted a 253-person list to the CEC. Naturally, we had presented the entire political team and it was impossible to place everyone in the Parliament—which has 131 MPs—even in the case of a best wish,” Sharmazanov noted, but added: “No serving MP has submitted a withdrawal petition.”
Also, he informed that, after the withdrawals, up to 110-111 spots from the RPA proportional list will enter the Parliament.
And according to the information Armenian News-NEWS.am has ascertained, withdrawal petitions will be submitted by close to seventy people, including PM Tigran Sargsyan, and current ministers, deputy ministers, and regional governors.
