Protests and clashes with police in many Turkish regions followed the arrest of over 30 Kurdish politicians and activists.

Over the weekend the demonstrators stoned law enforcers and threw gasoline bombs. The police exercised water cannons and tear gas. The major clashes hit Istanbul and south-east cities of Turkey.

Last Thursday, about 30 people were arrested as a result of raid on supposed extremists of presently banned Democratic Society Party. According to some data, 7 mayors and 2 human rights activists are among the detained. Friday, 23 arrested were accused of links with Kurdish rebels. According to AFP, 3 people died in demonstrations.
