BEIRUT. – There were no violations registered against the Armenian churches in Lebanon, chief editor of the Aztag newspaper published in Lebanon Shahan Kandaharyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am adding violation against the Armenian St Cross Catholic Church on the eve of the Pope Benedict XVI’s visit was the only incident.

“Police launched an investigation. However, no one is still detained. It is noteworthy that the incident has occurred on the eve of the Pope’s visit,” Kandaharyan said adding Lebanese Christian and other religious communities condemned the attack.

To note, unknown people had attacked the church, damaged icons and furniture of the church prior to the Pope’s visit to Lebanon on Sept 14.
