YEREVAN. – The common feature of local, parliamentary, or presidential elections in Armenia is that administrative and financial resources, mainly seized by the ruling party, are playing crucial role, head of the Heritage parliamentary group Ruben Hakobyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

The MP said local elections have three peculiar features. Firstly, there is less rigging during the local elections as the number of voters is not that high.

“Secondly, community ties, and relations between the relatives play crucial role. Thirdly, no matter which political force candidate is representing, once elected, he becomes a part of the ruling force. Otherwise, he can do nothing for his community,” Hakobyan emphasized.

He said, according to his sources, this year’s elections were calmer as compared with the previous ones.

As reported earlier, local elections were held in five regions of Armenia on September 9 and 23.
