YEREVAN. – Over 40 disabled athletes participated in the marathon starting from the Republic Square of Yerevan on the occasion of the Day of Independence on Tuesday.
The marathon participants reached Yerablur military cemetery and put a wreath at the memorial to the soldiers killed during the Artsakh [Nagorno-Karabakh] war.
The race was organized by the Armenian Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs along with the Armenian National Olympic Committee. Besides, organizations dealing with the sport events for disabled people also participated in the event.
It is the second marathon for the disabled organized on the occasion of Independence Day.
