YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Deputy PM, Territorial Administration Minister, and Chairman of the Council on Human Trafficking Affairs, Armen Gevorgyan, on Tuesday received a delegation from the US Embassy led by Ambassador John Heffern.
The parties discussed cooperation in the combat against human trafficking, Territorial Administration Ministry Public Relations Department informs.
The guests considered effective the actions carried out by the aforesaid council’s interagency working group. It was noted that the activities, which are underway along the lines of Armenia’s national program on organizing the fight against human trafficking, are proceeding along the right path and they need to continue.
The Deputy PM stated that, at present, labor trafficking and child trafficking likewise are at Armenia’s focus of attention, that public oversight on this matter is considerable, too, and any detected case of trafficking is covered by the country’s media.
The parties also reflected on the section that concerns Armenia in the US report on child labor. The Deputy PM underscored the need to use objective and most-recent data in such reports.
Also, Armen Gevorgyan gave details on Armenia’s activities carried out in the past several years in the domain of child protection.
