YEREVAN. – It is a pity that Armenia’s second President Robert Kocharyan sees a political context in the Armenian former FM, MP Vartan Oskanian’s case, ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) spokesperson and Parliament Deputy Speaker Edward Sharmazanov told Armenian News-NEWS.am commenting on Kocharyan’s statement on Oskanian’s case.
“I do think that any political figure, including ex-presidents, can have and express their own opinion in relation to this or that issue. However, the position of the RPA on the Oskanian case will remain unchanged, regardless of ex-president’s opinion,” Sharmazanov said adding the case is exclusively legal and it is too strange to politicize it.
Also Sharmazanov regrets that Kocharyan sees a political context in the issue.
“We consider the case exclusively in legal context,” he added.
To note, Armenia’s second President Robert Kocharyan issued a statement with reference to the removal of The Civilitas Foundation founder, former FM in Kocharyan’s administration, and Prosperous Armenia Party MP Vartan Oskanian’s parliamentary immunity.
