YEREVAN. – A delegation from the Slovakian Supreme Court, led by its Chairman Štefan Harabin, is paying a visit to Armenia. 

On Monday the delegation met with chief judge Arman Mkrtumyan of Armenia’s Court of Appeals and with the heads of its chambers, Armenian Judicial Department press service informs.   

Mkrtumyan extended his thanks to Harabin for Slovakia’s recognition of the Armenian Genocide, passing of a law on criminal accountability for genocide denial, and for his contribution to developing ties between the judicial systems of Armenia and Slovakia.     

Subsequently, the parties discussed matters concerning the judiciaries of both countries.  

In his turn, Štefan Harabin underscored the cooperation and the exchange of experience between the judicial systems. Specifically, he noted that the legislative regulations by Armenia’s Judicial Council are more effective than those in Slovakia. Also, he pointed to the existence and importance of specialized courts and judges, which are absent in Slovakia.     

Afterward, they examined several legal matters of bilateral interest. 

To note, the delegation from the Slovakian Supreme Court will also get familiar with Armenia’s historical and cultural treasures and visit the country’s scenic sights.
