YEREVAN. – Armenia’s National Assembly (NA) Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan on Tuesday received a delegation comprising businessmen from Switzerland, NA press service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am. 

Abrahamyan expressed a satisfaction by the Swiss entrepreneurs’’ visit to Armenia. In his words, a high level of political discourse has been formed and the relations have developed between both countries in recent years. Specifically, he underscored the role of interparliamentary cooperation. Highly appraising the effective activities undertaken by the parliamentary friendship groups of Armenia and Switzerland, the NA chairman expressed confidence that these groups will continue contributing to the development of these ties.     

In his turn, Guy Mettan, Chairman of the Switzerland-CIS Joint Chamber of Trade and Industry and Deputy of the Grand Council of Geneva, pointed to current relations between the two countries. In his words, the Swiss delegation’s visit to Armenia has the objective of further deepening these ties. He likewise underscored the activities undertaken by the parliamentary friendship groups of Armenia and Switzerland. Mettan noted that a new phase has commenced in bilateral relations ever since the opening of Switzerland’s Embassy in Armenia. 

Also, the role of Switzerland’s Armenian community was highlighted in terms of the establishment of friendship and trust between both countries.  

Switzerland-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group member Luc Barthassat noted that they are impressed by their trip to Armenia, and informed that they will not miss the opportunity to visit Nagorno-Karabakh as well. In this connection, Hovik Abrahamyan saluted the aforesaid group’s recent trip to Karabakh.
