Former members of pro-Kurdish Democratic Society Party (DTP) closed down by the Constitutional Court recently appealed to the European Court of Human Rights, Today’s Zaman reports.

According to the daily, they claim that “the Constitutional Court is not impartial since it was established by a constitution drafted by the military junta that took over the government on Sept. 12, 1980.”

December 11, 2009 Turkish CC made a judgment on dissolution of the DTP and depriving its 37 members, including party’s leader Ahmed Turk of the right to political activities. DTP was accused of links with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) considered terrorist by Turkish authorities.
