Armenia native Davit Mirzoyan pleaded guilty to racketeering and other crimes in connection with his involvement in an Armenian-American criminal organization involved in a wide range of criminal activity, including a massive Medicare fraud.
Preet Bharara, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, announced that Davit Mirzoyan pled guilty, says the statement on justice.gov. He faces a maximum penalty of 75 years in prison.
As Armenian News-NEWS.am reported earlier, Armenian criminals and their associates used phantom health care clinics and other means to try to cheat Medicare out of $100 million, the largest fraud by one criminal enterprise in the program’s history. The operation was under the protection of an Armenian crime boss Armen Kazarian, nicknamed Pzo He was also among the first arrestees in Los Angeles.
