YEREVAN. – Armenia highly appreciates the Japanese government’s support both in the years of Armenia’s independence and much earlier, that is, in the efforts to eliminate the aftermath of the 1988 Spitak earthquake, Armenian-Japanese Parliamentary Friendship Group head Samvel Farmanyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.  

Recalling that this group has formed just recently, he noted that its mission is to contribute to the development of relations between the two countries.

In Farmanyan’s words, the group’s agenda is full. “There are no circumstances between Armenia and Japan that obstruct the development of relations. Our ties with Japan are extremely important from the viewpoint of diversifying relations, and Japan can be helpful on numerous matters,” the MP stressed.  

He added that Japanese Ambassador Takehito Harada will meet with members of the friendship group, on Friday at the National Assembly.
