YEREVAN.- Armenia is producing about 8,000 types of wine but is usually reported only about several types, chairman of Areni wine festival said.

Speaking on the occasion of wine festival in Armenia, Nune Manukyan said insufficient promotion of the Armenian wine prevents its spreading even in Armenia.

One of the key problems is certification of wines, said expert from the National Institute of Standards Karo Hakobyan. “Only 2-3 wine and brandy producers have ISO certification,” he added. Certification is very important for exports and quality of the products.

The only agency responsible for giving VI 1 certificates, necessary for exporting goods to the EU, is the National Institute of Standards at Armenia’s Ministry of Economy.
