Chinese President Hu Jintao said China rules out  independence for Taiwan insisting on signing a peaceful agreement between the sides.

During his address at the opening of the 18th Congress of the Communist Party, Hu Jintao touched upon China’s territorial disputes, including the Taiwan issue.

Hu Jintao stressed that reaching peaceful agreement through consultations between the sides will open up new opportunities for development of relations.

Beijing used to call for using force against Taiwan but the sides have considerably improved relations so far, Russia’s RBK reports.
