YEREVAN.- Italian Alitalia air company will launch Yerevan-Rome-Yerevan flights starting from December 11, company’s general manager for Russia, Ukraine and Georgia Giovanni Simonini told reporters.

“I cannot speak about the ticket price but it will be definitely a competitive price,” he assured.

The Italian company will operate two flights a week: Rome-Yerevan flights on Tuesday and Friday, and Yerevan-Rome – on Wednesday and Saturday.

Italy’s Ambassador to Armenia Bruno Scapini said the direct flights between Armenia and Italy will further enhance relationship between the states.

“For Armenia, as a landlocked country, it is very important to intensify flights to other states, in particular to Europe. Armenia shows more interest in Italy which is proved by demand for Italian brands and trade turnover between our countries,” Scapini added.

Alitalia will be represented by Festa Tour Avia company.
