The cooperation between Armenia and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) has a ten-year history, First Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration Vache Terteryan stated Friday, and within the framework of the “Improving the living conditions of Armenia rural communities by way of livestock market intervention” program.      

He noted that several matters are included along the lines of this program. “Accordingly, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation submitted a project whereby stressing the results of the [respective] activities conducted in [Armenia’s] Syunik Region. Owing to the methods, the living conditions in rural communities have improved by way of improving the necessary environment for cattle-raising,” Terteryan noted.    

In his turn, SDC Armenia Regional Director Rudolf Schoch stressed that a substantial growth is recorded in the meat and dairy products from the farms in the sixteen most remote and small villages surrounding the City of Goris. “The number of cattle increased in the Goris area and the program developed. Now, the main emphasis is placed on developing a regional market for meat and dairy products,” he said.         

And Syunik’s First Deputy Governor Ara Dolunts noted that the cooperation includes animal-raising as well as housing and social security.
