PARIS. – Armenia will not stay indifferent to the situation in Syria, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan stated in Paris in an interview to French Figaro newspaper.

As for the confrontations in Syria, the President stated that the difficulties, which the Syrian people do face, cannot leave the Armenians indifferent taking into account a huge Armenian community in Syria. Besides, Sargsyan stressed that thanks to Syria who hosted lots of Armenians rescuing from the Genocide and fleeing to Syria, many of them were able to move to other countries.

“A civil war is a hard test for any country, and there are no excellent decisions. It is difficult to say whether the outer interference will improve or deteriorate the situation [in Syria]. Armenia will do everything possible to promote the maintenance of peace in the country and secure sustainable and viable presence of the Armenian community,” Sargsyan stated.
