YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Ambassador to Georgia, Hovhannes Manukyan, met separately with Georgia’s several newly appointed ministers.

Congratulating the minister on their appointment, he expressed a hope that Georgia’s relations with Armenia will continue and there will be closer collaboration, Armenian MFA press service informs. 

During the ambassador’s meeting with Paata Zakareishvili, the Georgian State Minister for Reintegration, the Minister stressed that Georgia is interested in the effective engagement by the country’s national minorities, including the Armenians, and deemed it necessary to resolve community issues. In his turn, Ambassador Manukyan noted that Armenia is interested in the enlargement and reuse of Georgia’s transportation infrastructures    

During Hovhannes Manukyan’s meeting with Alex Petriashvili, Georgia’s State Minister on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, they discussed the opportunities for cooperation with the new Georgian government. Petriashvili expressed a conviction that the interaction, mutual visits, and practical contacts will increase. The interlocutors reflected on several regional matters as well.     

Next, Armenia’s Ambassador met with Sozar Subari, Georgia’s Minister of Corrections and Legal Assistance. They examined matters with respect to the protection of the rights of Armenia’s citizens who are serving sentences in Georgia’s prisons, and the cooperation between the respective departments of both countries.  

Also, Ambassador Hovhannes Manukyan met with Dimitri Kumsiashvili, Georgia’s First Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development. They discussed the current state of affairs in Georgia’s Poti city port, railway cooperation between the two countries, and continuation of the relations between the respective departments of Armenia and Georgia.
