Several EU states are holding protest actions on Wednesday against growing unemployment rate and tough austerity measures. The demonstrators call on the governments to draw attention to growing discontent.
Workers in Portugal and Spain started strikes at midnight protesting against cutting the wages, pensions and allowances.
About 40 groups from 23 states are participating in the action initiated by European Trade Union Confederation, BBC Russian service reported.
Demonstrations are expected in Greece, Belgium, Germany, UK and several Eastern European states. Air companies had to cancel and postpone flights throughout Europe.
