YEREVAN. - World Diabetes Day is celebrated on Nov. 14 annually. It was established by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) along with the World Health Organization (WHO). The aim is to struggle against the disease, to inform the public about its symptoms, complications and treatment, Armenian Ministry of Healthcare informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.

According to the IDF, 220 million people are suffering from the diabetes at the moment in the world, while their number will increase by 0.9 percent from 2010 to 2030. Hence, nearly each tenth will suffer from that disease in Armenia by 2030. According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, deaths from diabetes made 4.8% of total number of people suffering from the disease, while their number is 58,000.
