YEREVAN. – Negotiating with the four National Assembly (NA) factions, the opposition bloc Armenian National Congress (ANC) Faction decided to convene a special NA session on November 21. The campaign, which is necessary in order to collect at least 44 signatures to hold this session, has kicked off and 35 MPs have already signed under the form, ANC NA Faction leader Levon Zurabyan stated during a press conference on Thursday.    

As per Zurabyan, the objective of holding a special session is to introduce the ANC bill that envisions several amendments in the Electoral Code, the Criminal Code, and the Law on State Residency Registry. “We [already] have put the proposed package into circulation, but if we wait for the natural [NA] procedure, these amendments will be impossible to carry out prior to the presidential elections [next February],” he said.         

In his words, this bill is a “collective document where the expectations of our people are presented.”
