YEREVAN. - Armenian PM Tigran Sargsyan said when Armenia agreed to establish bilateral diplomatic relations with Turkey without any preconditions, the move was welcomed by the EU, United States and Russia.

Premier touched upon Armenia-Turkey and Armenia-Azerbaijan relations answering the questions of the members of the Club of Chief Editors of CIS countries, Baltic States and Georgia.

“The protocols were signed but Turkey refused to ratify the documents. Ankara probably thought Yerevan will never take the move. It was unexpected,” he said.

Premier believes the initative promoted Armenia’s international image as a reliable partner.

“The world community has given its assessment. Ball is in Turkey’s court,” he emphasized.

Speaking about the Karabakh peace process, Premier Sargsyan said the talks are held under mediation of the OSCE Minsk Group recalling the meetings held at the initiative of Russia.

“The meetings are forming the atmosphere of mutual trust making conflicting parties more predictable for each other which helps to solve many problems. The recent stalemate in talks is conditioned by Azerbaijan’s non-constructive stance,” he said.
