YEREVAN. – According to Hraparak daily’s sources at the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP), its chairman Gagik Tsarukyan will finally announce in fifteen days as to the format of his participation in next February’s presidential elections, the daily reports. 

“He is not against being nominated a [presidential] candidate, but he says he cannot answer for the consequences. Tsarukyan told that during his meetings with [President] Serzh Sargsyan, he said: ‘We are ready to support you one-hundred percent [in the elections], but you need to ponder as to what needs to be done so that we don’t turn into [the current coalition government’s junior partner Orinats Yerkir (Rule of Law) Party] RLP.’ 

In addition, they did not agree on the makeup of the future government. Tsarukyan again asked for the PM’s position, [but] the President proposed to be satisfied with [the positions of] Deputy PM and [several] ministers. Tsarukyan did not agree to this option.

And the political consultations, the [National Assembly] signature campaign [to convene a] special session, are to show that PAP is a key [political] force, and, at the end, to announce that since there is the matter of Karabakh, region, [and] Iran, PAP is obligated to support the president of the country,” Hraparak writes.
