YEREVAN. – Days ago the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) was stating that they could reach a decision, with respect to the format of their participation in next February’s presidential elections, during session of the party’s political board, but, now, there are rumors that PAP is preparing to convene a congress, Hraparak daily reports.

“The observers believe that if PAP holds a congress, its objective will be to decide upon, [and] under ceremonious conditions, running with its own candidate [for the elections].

[But] In response to our query, PAP Spokesperson Tigran Urikhanyan said: ‘When we make a decision to hold a congress, the media will learn about that.’

Incidentally, the PAP circles note that the proposal to nominate [PAP MP and former FM] Vartan Oskanian [as PAP’s presidential candidate] can be considered closed. Now, the matter of nominating solely [PAP Chairman Gagik] Tsarukyan is being discussed,” Hraparak writes.
