YEREVAN. – The Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) held another meeting at capital city Yerevan’s “Ararat” Brandy-Wine-Vodka Factory, which is owned by PAP Chairman Gagik Tsarukyan, Zhoghovurd daily reports.

“According to Zhoghovurd’s information, it was very intense because the PAP members still cannot decide what to do [with respect to the forthcoming presidential elections]. Some of them maintain that Gagik Tsarukyan should personally run [for elections] and some believe that a risk should not be taken, whereas Tsarukyan is silent.    

The thing is that it is convenient for [incumbent President] Serzh Sargsyan and [second President] Robert Kocharyan that Tsarukyan himself runs [for elections]. Sargsyan needs to defeat a [presidential] candidate who has an image of a strong candidate, whereas Kocharyan hopes that solely Tsarukyan will beat Sargsyan [in the elections].

Our sources, however, inform that Tsarukyan is not inclined to run [for elections] at this moment,” Zhoghovurd writes.
