YEREVAN. – The political consultations in the run-up to Armenia’s presidential election are real, opposition Heritage Party’s National Assembly Faction MP Tevan Poghosyan stated during a press conference on Wednesday.

He noted that these discussions are the formation of a new tradition and stressed that these talks do not intend to delude the body politic. “Preparing for the presidential elections and nominating candidates are not an imitation process,” Poghosyan said.

In his words, during the presidential race Heritage will focus on its presidential nominee and take its political vision forward.

In his turn, Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) MP Vahan Babayan noted that all the political forces, except for the ruling Republican Party, took part in these political consultations. “There is no imitation here. [And] PAP’s proposal will secure a new platform for uniting the political forces,” he said. To note, PAP proposes parliamentary governance and one-hundred-percent proportional election systems in Armenia.

Vahan Babayan noted that in line with the latest surveys, PAP and its leader Gagik Tsarukyan have an exceptional rating and Tsarukyan is in first place. “The whole party, the people are waiting for Gagik Tsarukyan to run [for president],” he said.
