YEREVAN. – “There are former leaders [of Armenia], such as [second President] Mr. [Robert] Kocharyan and [First President] Mr. [Levon] Ter-Petrosyan, but they will hardly become a leading beacon. I don’t believe he [that is, Ter-Petrosyan] has great popularity these days, British Chatham House analytical center analyst James Nixey said, in an interview with the reporter of 168 Zham [daily], reflecting on the current potential of Armenia’s opposition [in next year’s presidential elections],” the daily reports.  

“Nixey said Ter-Petrosyan’s win [in the elections] could have been pleasing for the US, but, in his view, he will not receive the necessary help because the Americans are not too concerned about that matter right now. ‘The elections’ outcome, which eventually will be [incumbent President Serzh] Sargsyan’s triumph, will hardly cause a particular response, or enthusiasm, in Washington, or in Moscow’ [James Nixey stated],” 168 Zham writes.
