YEREVAN.- An annual international campaign against gender-based violence launched  in Armenia on November 25 and will last till December 10, the international day of Human Rights.

 “16 days of activism against gender-based violence” campaign’s aim is to eliminate violence against women and underscore the importance of the struggle. Since 1991 more than 2000 organizations from 156 countries have taken part in the campaign. Armenia joined the campaign in 2001.

“Society Without Violence” NGO, estimating the importance of struggle against violence in Armenia, organizes a large public event entitled “Domestic Violence as a Ground for a Strong- Family” in the frames of the campaign.

The objective is to raise public awareness about violence against women and to present some cases of domestic violence.

Public event will take place on December 3 in Charles Aznavour square in Yerevan.
