YEREVAN. – Chairman Artak Zakaryan of the Armenian National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee on Foreign Relations met Wednesday with Belarusian Ambassador Stepan Sukharenko and First Deputy Chief of Mission, Valeri Gorelko.    

They discussed the avenues for developing interparliamentary ties and underscored the role of interparliamentary cooperation in strengthening relations between both countries, NA press service informs.

Also, the interlocutors reflected on the prospects for improving cooperation within international organizations. In this context, Zakaryan stressed the need for the Belarusian parliamentary delegation to be engaged in the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly of the Eastern Partnership. Highlighting European integration, in his turn Sukharenko noted that they wish to become an equal partner.   

In addition, the parties discussed the parliamentary elections in Belarus, activities of the Armenia-Belarus Interparliamentary Commission, and the opportunities for strengthening ties between both parliaments. Also. they agreed to deepen cooperation between the foreign relations committees of the Armenian and Belarusian parliaments.
